in the beginning

Many years ago, before  travel teams, summer sports programs and  summer high school leagues ,kids played  a schedule of 12 to 15 games in the community youth sports programs.  If it rained on game day kids sat in the house, watched TV, and hoped coach would reschedule the game  before the end of the season. However, kids had  prairies, backyard basketball hoops and many places to play.  And everyone in the neighbor, choose up sides and played all day long without uniforms, parents or umpires.  They called the balls, strikes, fair balls and foul balls and had few less arguements than there are today. 

No computers, nintendo games or cell phones to spend all day long looking at them,. That was the old days.

Growing up I was very fortunate young ballplayer. My high school decided to keep the team together and play in a couple organized leagues over the summer. So, at 13 Years old, instead of playing just 15 games in Colt League, i also played in a semi-pro league and an American Legion league. Boy did we get creamed the first couple years.
